We stopped here to grab a bite to eat and get out of the car for awhile, we've been here before, but always just passing through. I would LOVE to spend a day here. They've got neat little shops, great boutiques, antique stores, galleries, and some GREAT pubs!! A great little town of Highway 81 milemarker 221 in case anyone is in the area ;)

I took these when Audrey and I went for a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway...it was so much fun and how vivid are these colors.. A great day to capture natures beauty..

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

So we finally made it back to south Carolina on Friday! all day Saturday i spent catching up with house work and getting my pumpkins carved and outside ready to go...i got everything up and running before the trick or treaters and it was so much fun! You can see i did one pumpkin with bats and the other is what i call my "Martha Stewart" pumpkin, i drilled holes into the flesh than poked Xmas lights through them, i think it turned out pretty good:) I can't believe that another Halloween has come and gone....

Road Trip

Well i'm headed on a road trip that will take us from south carolina to northern virginia to maryland back to northern virginia leave northern virginia head to southwest virginia back to south carolina....whew...i'll be back in a week!!

Halloween House

I finally got my halloween decorations up! I've been collecting department 56 halloween stuff for a few months and got them out of there boxes for the first time!! I think it turned out pretty good! My window sill is ready for halloween, i've got my witch candle out and burning. Lastly dinner in the crock pot!! Yummy, i can post the recipe if any one wants it, it's sooo tasty!

Final Art Projects

Here are 2 of my art projects that i finally finished!!! I'm really happy about them, just a few tweaks here and there, but they are done! The one is a 5x7 canvas ( a birthday gift from audrey, thank you!) and is acrylic, the other a standard art card, all colored pencil, but i used some "glitter paint" if you will, to fill in the sea! So we will "see" if they sell, cheers everyone and Happy Monday!

Fall Day!

So i finally had time to enjoy a great day on Saturday, by saying goodbye to my summer plants and saying hello to fresh autumn annuals! It was a cloudy day, but still warm for South Carolina about 82 degrees, but there was a cool breeze and it was a good day to get work done outside. As I was pulling out my sweet potato vines to make room for some mums, i couldn't believe what was attached.....actually potatoes!!! :) There was bunches of them, i wasn't sure if they were edible so i ended up throwing them out, but i thought it was neat because it was the first time that every happened to me!! I then added my kale, some pansies, and some pumpkins, and of course my fall wreath ( which i got a Walmart for 10 bucks!!) So i now, finally, I feel like fall is in the air..........

Art Card Update...

Hi everyone!! I just want to let everyone know the story behind the pictures..My grandad is not doing well, so i decided to send sketch a picture of him back in his college days. He sent that black and white picture to me when I was in college,that represented him in one in picture and the other is one of my memories of him...just sketches, but with love behind it, wish i could be with you...my heart is with you grandad..

The others are new sketches...the one canvas is an update from the old....let me know what you think...

Ahhh... October.....

It's not Halloween yet, but I'm super excited for October to be here! It represents so many good memories and the beauty of fall. I can't wait to get my first department 56 Halloween collection up, I'm still deciding where to put it, but I'll figure it out! In addition my almost hubby will be having a birthday this month as well as my mom, which i mentioned in an earlier post. All in All , it's a happy time full of tricks and treats.....in my mind, mainly treats:)

Sometimes your hands have to do the dirty work..

So as we know, artist's ( or those who are attempting aka...me) need to get their hands dirty/painted sometimes....I certainly enjoyed dabbling in some paint....little did i know i would make a landscape out of it :) I was thinking of some homemade art for my mom for her birthday on October 4Th?? I'm sure she'd like it considering how much she kept during my younger years......Hope you gals had a great weekend.....Cheers...:)

Friends....should i say more??

This is my best friend, my youngest brother, and myself aloooong time ago ( I'm wearing the pink sweater)...she and i are still friends. I'm older, she's older and the baby isn't a baby anymore :( The point is is that good friends are worth fighting for...she's the sister i never had and I'm glad she's in my life (Of course the brother is too :) In the words of the great Thomas Jefferson... "Friendship is precious, not only in the shade, but in the sunshine of life, and thanks to a benevolent arrangement the greater part of life is sunshine"........what more can a wise man say....Here's to friends...personal, blogger, and anything else that encompasses knowing one another :)

New Art...

So here are my new projects...The canvas is from a favorite person of mine aka..Audrey...who bought me a great set of things to practice my new hobby....ART :) Very happy about it....The canvas drawing is a larger version of a small art card i did a while back...it's still in the works!! The other is a bust of 'dRAcuLA" .....I know scary....he's being worked on as we speak..Ideas from anyone... Cheers :)
