Sometimes your hands have to do the dirty work..

So as we know, artist's ( or those who are attempting aka...me) need to get their hands dirty/painted sometimes....I certainly enjoyed dabbling in some paint....little did i know i would make a landscape out of it :) I was thinking of some homemade art for my mom for her birthday on October 4Th?? I'm sure she'd like it considering how much she kept during my younger years......Hope you gals had a great weekend.....Cheers...:)

Friends....should i say more??

This is my best friend, my youngest brother, and myself aloooong time ago ( I'm wearing the pink sweater)...she and i are still friends. I'm older, she's older and the baby isn't a baby anymore :( The point is is that good friends are worth fighting for...she's the sister i never had and I'm glad she's in my life (Of course the brother is too :) In the words of the great Thomas Jefferson... "Friendship is precious, not only in the shade, but in the sunshine of life, and thanks to a benevolent arrangement the greater part of life is sunshine"........what more can a wise man say....Here's to friends...personal, blogger, and anything else that encompasses knowing one another :)

New Art...

So here are my new projects...The canvas is from a favorite person of mine aka..Audrey...who bought me a great set of things to practice my new hobby....ART :) Very happy about it....The canvas drawing is a larger version of a small art card i did a while back...it's still in the works!! The other is a bust of 'dRAcuLA" .....I know scary....he's being worked on as we speak..Ideas from anyone... Cheers :)

View from Above....

So these were some photos from our plane landing in Akron/Canton (Ohio) Airport....Not a big fan of flying, but there is somethings that can't be captured from the ground up, so i tried from the Air down view:) Neat cloud formations and such beautiful skies, i almost felt like i had my own wings looking at some cotton balls waiting for me to snuggle up with :) If anything, it was a good distraction from the turbulence.....Happy floating...wheeeeeeeeee!

Back from the North :0

Well we made it in one piece!! had a great time, visited with some old friends, had some good pizza, went to some of our favorite restaurants, and just had some R&R!! I'll post some pictures later, right now i have to get ready for work, blah!

Off to Ohio

Well in a few hours Casey and I will be in OHIO! We'll be there for a week then back home. We've got some football to watch and some visiting to do and of course pictures to be taken :) I'll hopefully find some good shots to post, in the meantime...have a great week and wonderful weekend!

How beautiful some things are put...

So one of my favorite authors is Alexander Mccall Smith ( photo above..he publishes the book series "The No. 1 Ladies Dectective Agency")..... Well in my readings today in his chapter of "Blue Shoes and Happiness" a bird named the "Ground Hornbill" was causing some bad karma and superstitions in a small village in Africa....Long chapter short...the bird was a problem, but the beauty was that his character couldn't have put something so perfectly in words, the quote says it all...."This bird is one of our brothers and sisters. We are returning it to the ground from which it came, the ground from which we came too. and now we put the soil upon it..."..."the resting place of us all----of people, of animals, of birds..." How beautiful and how pure.....Read his series they are wonderful..Thank you Alexander Mccall Smith for wise and honest writings....

September, but i do know that it's the end of summer and encompasses the beginning of fall and what a beautiful sight it is...another summer to an end and another fall in it's beginnings...how quickly it goes, but what a beauty, what a beauty.....

Antique Store Finds...Always an Adventure...

So when i was with my "mother in law" we went to every antique store that i think existed in the Roanoke area, which was wonderful!! These are some of the things i found.

The plant stand and a bunch of nick-nacks...as we all know "one's man's trash is another man's treasure".....

and i like to think i found the pot of gold :) Have a great Monday!!

New Projects..!

So here are my new projects...Dracula to paint (which i bought it at the dollar store)...any ideas Audrey?? not sure about what paint to use...

The art card called "BZZING Around" .. ( i drew this at work, don't tell!!)..need to add color and am excited about it :)

Well here it is.. the final cut.. my first art card ever.......:) this is to inspiration and creativity... i hope it comes in bucketfuls....

Clifton Forge Fun

So another place that we visited while in Virginia was to my parents "new" house, in Clifton Forge, that they bought a couple years ago and have been renovating it bit by bit so it is ready to move into in a year or so.

The first picture is of the house itself, which was built in 1914 by Dr. Revercomb. He was the local doctor in Clifton Forge and had it built so he could actually see his patients inside his home, which was common at that time. My parents are the 5th homeowner of this house, which is hard to believe after almost 100 years!!

You can see one of the before and after photos of my mothers kitchen, it's been alot of work for them, but they enjoy it!!

They have a nice garden in the back yard which is where the basket of vegetables came from, we ate most of them for dinner with our brats and potato salad...

Lastly is their most recent purchase, which is the 1930 Ford T model car!! Can you believe it!! I think they are trying to go back in time wouldn't you say!! Dr. Revercomb was actually one of the first car owners in the area so he could make house calls to his patients if they were unable to come to the house!! It's very exciting to see all the hard work they've put into it and i look forward to seeing the finished product;).....now if i can only get them to a a computer................Have a great week everybody ;)

So I condensed it a little bit, more color to come...the sketch started in audrey's studio and the aceo card is in the works... keep everyone posted. I'm really loving art, it makes me smile ;)!!

Salem, VA....fun times!!

These are photos of some beautiful things of the city of Salem, Va. A few of our favorite diners are included, as well as some beautiful backgrounds. Mac n Bob's is a nice dinner place with a HUGE back patio and Mama Marias has some great Italian..we will travel for good food :) I loved the front entrance patio of the italian restaurant , lots of beautiful flowers and i really liked the picture of city hall.....can you find the moon, it's hiding :)

Thanks to my 2 little followers!! i am so excited to post my fun things that i had & have when i was visiting my favorite people!! Look forward to posting them ;) Lots of antique finds as well as some photos... i'll be back.. got in town a little later than i thought so i have to wait till morning!
